Kaori

Kaori
133 W Chapman Ave
Ste 103
Fullerton, CA 92832
714-871-9395

Kaori is located in a one story building that has a Mexican, a Philly Cheesesteak, and some kind of Asian fusion restaurant.  Right in front of the building is a dirty and gravel parking, and just behind that is a paved parking lot.

Kaori is a dark restaurant with a Japanese motif.  It was pretty busy during lunch.

Shrimp $5 and tuna sushi $5.50.  The shrimp was along the biggest and freshest, I've had!!  Very good quality and well worth the price.  The tuna was fine.  Nothing outstanding or bad about it.

Crunch roll- $10.  A good sized roll, with fresh ingredients!

Service was pretty good, expect water was slow to be refilled.

I would go back to Kaori, just for the shrimp sushi.  Next time I go, I'll try the other rolls.

Baja California Fish Tacos-Fullerton- Closed

Baja California Fish Tacos
2931 Nutwood Ave
Fullerton, CA 92831
714-983-7785

When I went to the Baja California Fish Tacos location in Lawndale, I noticed they had a location in Fullerton!  So, I went to the Fullerton location to try their grill shrimp taco.

Baja California Fish Tacos is located in what used to be a Maru Sushi.  They opened in late 2016.  The building seems to be shaped like the original Pizza Hut restaurants.  The walls are painted in bright colors, blues, orange, and green.  There is a counter and tables on your left.  It's a big airy place, much bigger than their Lawndale location.

Grilled Shrimp Taco-$2.99

I really liked the grilled shrimp tacos!  Plump, well cooked and seasoned shrimp with cabbage, red onions, and tomatoes.  The tortilla is the same as Lawndale.  I love the freshness of this taco.  Well worth the price.

Service was good.  The young lady who helped me was nice and friendly.  As with Lawndale, you're greeted as you walk up.

I would go back to Baja California Fish Tacos!

Giovanni's-Fullerton- Closed

Giovanni's
922 Williamson
Fullerton
714-526-5561

I reviewed Giovanni's on Williamson in Fullerton back in 2006. Now almost 10 years later I went back to review their pizza! Giovanni's on Harbor has long closed! Giovanni's has expanded into the next two spaces.  The bigger Giovanni's now include a much larger dining area. The old area is now the game room for the restaurant.

Large, 15in, mushrooms and jalapenos, $13.07- $8.50 plus $1.80 per topping, for the Monday Special.  Regular price, $12.50 plus $2.10 per topping.

The crust was medium thickness and firm, holding the toppings very well.  The jalapenos were fresh and spicy.  There weren't that many mushrooms, but the little amount on the pizza was fresh.  This isn't the greatest pizza you'll ever have, but a good solid pizza from a local, family owned restaurant.  Now, the big question- would this pizza be worth the regular price, about $19.  I think yes, and I assume you would get a bit more toppings since the cost per topping is 30 cents more.

Despite only one person at the front, service was good.  When I walked in there was a sign that said Help Wanted.  I can see why.  The lady taking the order was the only person working the front.  She was responsible for taking orders and taking the food to the tables.  There was a party of about 15 people and they kept coming back to order drinks or food.  They really needed somebody else to help the lady.  They could also help themselves by placing the printer for credit cards right next to the register!  The way it is set up now, the customer gives the lady the credit card, she walks about a few feet to the printer then slides the credit card.  I could see two people in the kitchen working on the orders, but they need front of the house help!  Despite being very busy, the lady was very nice and helpful.

I would go back to Giovanni's for their pizza.

Which Wich?

Which Wich?
2720 Nutwood Ave
Ste B
Fullerton, CA 92831
714-869-3820

Which Wich? is a chain sandwich shop, that opened in Fullerton about two years ago. They are located across the street from Cal St. Fullerton and it can get pretty busy when school is in session. Which Wich? has an interesting concept-bags are marked with a number, 1 for turkey, 2 for pork/ham etc, you select which sandwich you want, then mark down what type of bread and condiments you want. That bag is the bag your sandwich will be put in, after it's wrapped in parchmont paper and aluminum foil.

I got the large #7 Italian, grinder on wheat bread with salami, pepperoni, and capicola on wheat with mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers, $8.08.

The bread was a bit stale and tough. It wasn't freshly baked, like Subway. But, the quality of meats and cheeses are better than Subway and they put more meats on the sandwich. The capicola was spicy with a good kick, the salami and pepperoni were also made of good quality ingredients. The veggies were all fresh, but they forgot to put mayo on my sandwich! It wasn't too dry because of all the veggies, but I like mayo on my sandwiches.

Service is pretty good. The people are friendly and helpful. They will explain how their system works for first timers. But, they take a bit long to make the sandwiches and as I mentioned, they forgot to put mayo on my sandwich.

I'm not big on chain restaurants, but Which Wich? isn't too bad. I wish the OC had a good Italian market, so I could get an good Italian sub.
